Kia Hākinakina have contracted specialist consultant Simon Roseingrave, of SRC Consulting, to lead the development of systems and support for clubs in the South Wairarapa. Simon has a wealth of experience in the sporting landscape: 7 years as a volunteer club coordinator, 11 years as a regional sports organisation General Manager, and 2 years creating and leading the roll-out of a new National Development Plan (including club support and alignment) for New Zealand Cricket.
In 2019, Simon undertook an Insights study on behalf of Sport Wellington (now Nuku Ora) to understand the participation organisation space in this region, with reference to clubs, teams and regional organisations. The findings are as relevant now as they were then.
Full insights reportSome of the recommendations
- Financial insight: a resource, either centralised, collaborative or individual, to assist with funding knowledge and budgeting
- Centre of influence (people): investigation into mechanisms of support
- Support around social media use, with access to group discussion to ensure engagement
- Working groups for participant voice in planning
- Partnership Agreements for identified participation bodies
- Training around Governance vs Working Committee
- Effective planning that incorporates the needs and voice of participant groups into strategy
Kia Hākinakina will use these insights to co-design support and planning with South Wairarapa clubs, Nuku Ora and relevant Regional Sports Organisations.
